I don’t know if many realised but probably this is one of the best weeks for offshore wind in Europe and the world with more than 3GW offshore wind deals inked.
On 2nd of June the 500MW Fecamp offshore wind farm off northwest France reached financial close with Siemens Gamesa supplying 71 7.0-154 turbines to be manufactured at a new plant in Le Havre, France.
A day later, on 3rd of June the £3bn 1075MW Seagreen offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland reached financial close. The wind farm will consist of 114 MHI Vestas 10MW turbines, with blades to be manufactured on the Isle of Wight, UK.
A day later, on 4th of June Vattenfall has made the final investment decision for the 1500MW Hollandse Kust Zuid 1-4, the largest offshore wind farm in the world using Siemens Gamesa 140 11MW turbines and utilising Dutch based foundations and inter array cables.
